Hydrogen Research Day - Bologna: a research hub focused on hydrogen development
organized by Alma Mater Studiorum - Università di Bologna
This event aims to make clear the competences and role of the University of Bologna on hydrogen through the involvement of many research groups dealing with hydrogen and the role that hydrogen can play in many areas in our territory. Research and innovation projects will be described that constitute the backbone of a true Hydrogen Hub with impacts on the national, European and international system and especially with important impacts on the system of companies and on the regional supply chain. Young people engaged in research activities will be given space and visibility through pitches and posters that highlight the impact of their work.

Solutions for transition in transport and industry
Round Table
The energy transition has become a short-term necessity, driven by environmental reasons but involving political, social and economic levels. For companies, the decarbonisation path can and should be an opportunity to become more competitive and open up to new consumers who are increasingly sensitive to environmental issues. This process, however, is bound to have a profound impact on the industrial sectors as we know them today.
European and national policies such as REPowerEU and PNRR contain principles and standards that are already "shaping" the transport and industry sectors of tomorrow. The planned comparison between stakeholders will focus on the applicability of technologies, regulatory frameworks and economic incentives, on short- and long-term impacts, but also on the contradictions inherent to any large-scale measure such as those considered.
11:45 - 13:15
| Green Conference room (hall 22)
Small Scale LNG - The international context and Italian excellence: state of the art and infrastructure development
organized by ConferenzaGNL in collaboration with Federchimica-Assogasliquidi
The opening session of "ConferenzaGNL 2024" will focus on the analysis of the international context in which the specificities of the Small Scale LNG market are inserted, with a look at the trend of the Italian end-use market and the expected development of the infrastructure system that Italy is providing through the support of funds allocated by the Italian National Complementary LNG Plan. The analysis will be carried out with the help of international experts, Institutions, research institutes and - above all - the contribution of companies engaged in the implementation and further development of supply infrastructure to ensure that our country can continue to hold market leadership.

The role of LNG in decarbonising heavy transport, by road and sea
organized by ConferenzaGNL in collaboration with Federchimica-Assogasliquidi
LNG has been confirmed by the recent Community Regulation AFIR as well as by the European regulations on shipping emissions as one of the excellent alternative fuels to achieve the challenging decarbonization objectives.
The session aims to analyse with the players of the two reference markets the role of LNG, the risks and opportunities and above all to identify the measures necessary to ensure structural development in the use of the product, also in relation to the new and challenging objectives arising from the recent entry into force of new ETS obligations for both sectors.
14:00 - 15:30
| Green Conference room (hall 22)
THE DIGITAL WAY FOR DECARBONIZATION OF TRANSPORT
organized by Federchimica-Assogasliquidi, Assopetroli-Assoenergia and UNEM
The new mandate of the Commission led by Ursula von der Leyen opens with a warning, put black on white by the "Draghi Report": technology neutrality is essential for decarbonisation of transport and operators must have the freedom to choose and combine technologies and fuels to reduce CO2 emissions effectively.
The conference "The digital way for decarbonization of transport" brings together associations from the fuel sector and companies to discuss innovative technologies needed to drastically reduce CO2 emissions in the mobility sector. At the table also Bosch, which will present the revolutionary technology Digital Fuel Twin, a digital system that allows to optimize the use of fuels during the entire life cycle of the vehicle. This solution allows for accurate simulation of fuel performance, including synthetic and renewable fuels, thus improving energy efficiency and reducing harmful emissions.
The debate will also focus on the challenges and opportunities presented by biofuels, whose role in the run-up to the announced revision of CO2 emission regulations for vehicles may once again be central not only in heavy transport and hard-working sectors but also in theto abbot, but also in light transport.
14:00 - 15:00

Sustainability - energy - materials and technologies: supplies for a Circular - sustainable energy future to capture the competitive advantages of energy transition
organized by ADACI Italian Association of Purchasing and Supply Management
In a B.A.N.I. world (Brittle, Anxious, Nonlinear, Incomprehensible) according to the definition of Jamais Cascio (American anthropologist, author and futurist), who considered the changes brought by the pandemic, design - materials and technologies play a key role in Europe’s present and future competitiveness.
Eco design - supplies are tools for a circular-sustainable energy future, to capture the benefits of the energy transition.
Workshop participants will interact with speakers to explore - identify alternative solutions for the economic sustainability of their activities.

Hydrogen fueling stations - From European practices to the Italian situation
organized by Associazione Italiana Idrogeno H2IT
Through the PNRR investments, Italy will equip itself with a network of hydrogen fuelling stations, with an objective to reach a number equal to 40 by 2026. In parallel, the AFIR regulation imposes binding obligations on member states to locate hydrogen stations every 200 km on TenT networks and at each urban node by 2030. These conditions have led to the launch of projects in this area, but there are still many uncertainties mostly related to the need for financial support and regulatory gaps. H2IT and the HyPOP Project will trace the state of the art in Italy comparing the national approach with the vision and projects identified at European level. The main objective will be to share information useful for companies that want to develop projects, citizens who want to know more about technology and institutions that need to be sensitized on current issues, By overcoming them, they will become a reason for acceleration to reach the targets on infrastructure and decarbonization set at European level.
15:30 - 17:00
| Green Conference room (hall 22)
The bioLNG: concrete reality and forthcoming developments in the light of technical and regulatory innovations
organized by ConferenzaGNL in collaboration with Federchimica-Assogasliquidi
The role of bio-based and renewable fuels is increasingly at the centre of European and international debate. In this context, Italy is also the best country for developing bioLNG solutions to meet the challenges of decarbonization in end-use sectors. The regulatory and support framework is constantly evolving and companies are committed to use the opportunities offered to increase volumes of bioGNL on national territory.
The session aims to analyse regulatory developments and product growth perspectives.

bioCH4 DAY
In the last three years, the biogas and biomethane sector has experienced several important innovations at the regulatory level that have provided a great boost to the market and have aroused increasing interest from a variety of actors (agricultural enterprises, Italian and foreign investment funds, industries of difficult to decarbonize sectors, energy companies, technology suppliers, etc.). Starting from the publication of the so-called Biomethane Ter Decree (DM 15/09/2022), which introduced a new incentive mechanism for the production of biomethane, it has arrived at the introduction of the mechanism of Guarantees of Origin (DM 224/2023) and the most recent "sustainability decree" and "FER2 decree", also passing through renewed technical standards and application procedures.
During the BioCH4 DAY, Lorenzo Maggioni (agronomist and biomethane expert) and some representatives of the industry will take stock of the current situation and its possible evolution.
The event, which will be held in hybrid mode (presence and online) and will involve continuous interaction with participants, aims to gather doubts and ideas from the sector operators in order to better organize the conference that will take place in Bari on 27 November 2024, in conjunction with ACCADUEO (www.accadueo.com).
